communications solutions, continued its regular IP Office roadshows in conjunction with Avaya
with three events across the UK in July. 70 resellers attended the event at the Avaya offices in
Guildford, while a further 40 resellers joined ScanSource in Huddersfield and another 35 in
The morning sessions at the roadshows focused on the Avaya IP Office offering, giving an
overview of the latest developments included in release 8.1, while attendees were also given the
opportunity to learn about how to position IP Office in the mid-market and Avaya’s networking
portfolio, as well as receive guidance on how to better sell full solutions. Finally, time was
dedicated to the various services that are available to resellers through ScanSource that can be
offered with hardware sales to increase margins and offer end users wrap around solutions that
encourage repeat business.
The afternoons were aimed at a more technical audience and delved deeper into the technical
aspects of IP Office release 8.1 and provided information about the Avaya Ethernet Routing
Switch 3500. This session was presented by Terry Jones of Avaya, who gave attendees a live
demonstration of the new IP Office release and ERS 3500, giving resellers’ technical people the
chance to ask questions and get instant feedback.
“Besides the obviously valuable information that these free-of-charge roadshows deliver to
resellers there are additional benefits to attending,” said Iain Murdoch, Training Development
Manager, ScanSource Communications Europe. “It’s an opportunity for our partners to meet the
ScanSource personnel that they might not see on a regular basis, while also providing access to
Subject Matter Experts and senior staff from Avaya. This gives our partners the opportunity to get
direct answers to their queries and share experiences for the benefit of the Avaya channel.”
